Handsets and SIP User Agents

Handsets
In general any SIP compliant telephone will work with Vox Office IP PBX.
Hardware SIP Handsets

Cisco 7940/7960, Snom 360 / 320, Linksys SPA 941 and
Grandstream BudgetTone handsets are known to work well

Handset Configuration
Vox Office IP PBX will automatically generate configuration files for Cisco handsets making large deployments easy to manage.
Software SoftPhones
X-ten Eyebeam, X-Pro, SJPhone
USB Phones
3rd Party USB phones can be used in conjunction with Xten's range of softphones. These may require specific drivers for your PC's operating system.
Codecs Vox supports: GSM, uLaw (G.711), aLaw, iLBC, G.729.
Handset support for these codecs may vary
Power Over Ethernet (PoE) For Cisco, Snom handsets, an 802.11af Power over Ethernet switch is recommended. This will remove the need for external power supplies for the phones. Soft Telecom recommends the PoE range of switches from 3Com.
Address Book Vox Office's address book can be navigated and numbers called via the LCD display on Cisco or any other CMXML compliant handset browser.
Hardware ATA Allows analogue telephone devices such as fax, credit card or dialup modems to work with Vox. Any SIP ATA devices including Cisco 186, Sipura, Grandstream and LinkSys.

Call Termination

Traditional ISDN / PRI 16 - 120 channel ISDN. PRI and FRI EuroISDN Standard. Standard TDM Vox Office IP-PBX includes 30 channel PRI port for use with European and US telephone companies. Up to 4 ports can be used in any one server. Two Channel ISDN BRI is not supported. The following Digium TDM Cards are known to work well; TE411P, TE410P, TE406P, TE405P, TE210P, TE205P, TE110P,
VoIP Smart Telecom via the Internet. No phone lines or line rental required. Existing Eircom telephone numbers can be moved to Smart Telecom.
IAX Or any other IP enabled Telephone companies that support IAX termination. There are several hundred of these Telco's from around the world to choose from.
Least Cost Routing Vox Office supports multiple termination providers allowing certain outbound calls to be routed via VoIP, ISDN or both.
PBX Trunking IAX trunking is supported allowing multiple Vox Office sites to be linked together over the internet or private VPN's. Each trunk supports GSM, uLaw or aLaw (G.711) codecs.

Vox Server

Hardware Any modern Intel based server hardware. Recommended configuration for 100 user system is Dell PowerEdge 2950 with Raid 5, 512mb RAM, 50Gb storage, 3Ghz Processor with Dual Power Supply.
Operating System Redhat Linux, Fedora Core 5.
Number Users Suitable for 15-250 users per server
Multiple servers can be used in any one configuration by trunking them together.
Resiliance Although not required, a local UPS for the server is highly recommended.
PBX Failover Vox Office™ Failover (seperate product) is available for mission critical sites requiring PBX zero downtime. Please contact us for more details.
Backups Vox configuration and user data can be automatically exported, via FTP, to a remote server each evening.
Services DHCP, TFTP for easy handset management, HTTP and HTTPS for web and admin user access, SMTP for VoiceMail to Email feature, SIP/RTP for voice and signaling and SSH for remote support and configuration.
Asterisk Configuration All Asterisk configuration files are managed directly by Vox Office IP PBX. These include; sip.conf , manager.conf , iax.conf , meetme.conf , queues.conf , asterisk.conf , extensions.conf , agents.conf , voicemail.conf , parking.conf , musiconhold.conf etc.
