Quick Start
VoxOffice™ 2.5.5
PBX Server Administration
Name your Virtual PBX
VOX supports multiple Virtual PBXs, but let’s assume that just a single PBX
is required for this exercise. Select Virtual PBX from the PBX Configuration
menu and click the Add icon. Complete the Name and Description fields and
click ‘Apply’. Congratulations, you have now set up your first virtual PBX.
DDI (direct dial inwards)
The next step is to add some telephone numbers to your PBX. These are
provided by your Telecoms provider and usually come in blocks of 100 or
less. Select the DDI option, click the ‘Add’ icon and enter the first and last
number of your DDI range. Then click the ‘Add’ button. This new DDI range
will be listed onscreen.
Extensions
Extensions are added in much the same way as DDIs. A useful trick is to use
the last 3 or 4 digits of the DDI range for individual users’ extensions. This
makes it easier to remember other users’ numbers for internal calls. In
addition, add an extension range outside the DDI range which can be used
for PBX objects other than individual users’ extensions.
To add an Extension range, click Extensions followed by the ‘Add’ icon. Fill
in the range of numbers and select the Extension type. Click the Add button
to enter your choices.
For other PBX objects, use the non-DDI extension range. Set up 2-3 numbers
for each extension type such as call queues, IVRs etc. You may never use
these but there is no problem with having them set up.
The only exception to this process is the system mailbox. Because only one
system mailbox can be set-up, nominate one extension and change the
extension type, using the edit function, to system mailbox.
Although any extension number can be used it is common to select the first
Extension number of the non-DDI range for this purpose.
Call Pick-up Groups
If you are planning to use Call Pick-Up Groups select the option and click
the ‘Add’ icon. Complete the name and description then click OK. This will
set up the call group. Members of a call pickup group can answer each
others’ calls by pressing ‘*8’.
Users
Users are added by selecting the User option and clicking the ‘Add’ icon.
Complete the pop-up screen for each user and click ‘Apply’. The user is
now set up. Once set up, remember to use the ‘Permissions’ and ‘Call
barring’ icons to set the level of functionality of the user.
