VoxOffice 2.5.5
PBX Server Administration
Figure 23 - Add New Extension Range
This lets the Administrator add a new Extension number or range of numbers. These
numbers are not supplied by the Telco and you are free to use any numbers that
suit your purposes. Extension numbers can be of any length but for the purposes of
our examples, 4-digit extensions are used. In addition, it is often convenient to use
the last 4 digits of your DDI range as Extension numbers for individual users as it
makes extension dialling easier. Each PBX object must have an Extension number
and the following is a list of the extension types:
Agent pause: an Extension which when dialled puts the Agent on pause and
no calls are sent to the relevant handset
Agent unpause: the reverse of Agent pause above
Barge channel: an Extension which is dialled when you want to listen in on
a call. Requires the Zap channel number of the call which is available
through VOX Queue Monitor.
Call queue: a Call Queue answers all calls automatically and then
distributes them to available agents in accordance with a pre-selected set
of rules.
Conference room: VoxOffice lets the Administrator set up as many
conference rooms as are required by the organisation.
Extensions: refers to the traditional extension ie a user at a handset.
Group paging: an Extension which when dialled lets the caller broadcast a
message to a range of handsets. (See also PBX Object-Paging).
Hunt group: a single Extension which when called will ring on the handsets
of all members of the Hunt Group.
IVR: a single Extension which when called will provide the caller with
access to the IVR. Also called Auto-Attendant
Recording: in order to set up message recording, VoxOffice requires that a
single recording Extension be set up.
System mailbox: in order to set up Voicemail, a System Mailbox extension
is also required. You are only allowed to set up one such Extension and
setting up a second one will simply replace the original.
As part of the PBX set-up, it is often useful to simply set up ranges of each
extension type. By doing this, administrators will usually have extensions of
whatever type they need when making changes or additions to the PBX.
The Extensions option lets the Administrator review the list of Extensions already
set up and to edit extensions which are set-up but not assigned. Selecting an
unassigned Extension and clicking the Edit button or double-clicking an extension
will open a screen like the following;
